IbarraJiangxi Copper bought Ecuador’s Cascabel mine for $1.2 billion.

China’s largest copper producer completed the deal in March; the government says Cascabel could be the world’s largest underground silver mine.

300 residents must be relocated before construction, but environmental licensing and community consent remain unresolved.
